Squarespace + 99designs
Squarespace + 99designs
Hello! Thank you for reaching out. We are happy to help your business. Below you’ll find all the details you need to make an informed decision. If you have any questions not answered here please send us a message.
Here you’ll learn how we do business on the Marketplace. We offer convenient, cost-effective, self-scheduled services with our founder: 1.5-hour or 2.25-hour Zooms for quicker issues, and half-day or full-day sessions for more in-depth work. New websites, full migrations, large redesigns, or extensive blog overhauls are custom projects.
You or your team will work directly with Christine Darby, the most experienced professional and technical SEO on the 99designs Marketplace. Clients appreciate the deep knowledge, expertise, and independent perspective she brings to projects—asking the right questions, quickly diagnosing issues that others misdiagnosis or misunderstand, and helping with rapid execution to maximize your ROI.
All projects include the option of 1:1 screen sharing. Your real-time feedback is valuable as we work and prioritize tasks, or you can use a session for any specific questions. Our high-impact, high-value consultations have been a foundational service since 2013. We genuinely approach each project as if it were our own business.
On Marketplace, we offer 4 different self-scheduled sessions. We also offer custom website builds and redesigns. All projects are flat-fee, focused, and fast. We help all types of organizations from small to large.
IMPORTANT: If your website needs to be discoverable on search engines like Google, see the section below on how to verify basic SEO skills of any marketers you plan to interview.
In these Zoom meetings we can fix many design or SEO issues (on-page or off-page), polish up details on a small site, address domain problems, get you started with a blog, store, member area, scheduling, email marketing, subscriptions, an interactive map, or help with strategic brainstorming.
Of these two options, the 2.25 hour session is almost always the preferred choice, but a 1.5 hour session can be a good fit for smaller requests. We make impactful updates and fixes during either Zoom. See client reviews below to get a sense of our effectiveness and speed.
IMPORTANT: A Half-Day or Full-Day session might be more appropriate. See the FAQ below for more info.
1.5 hours is $500, 2.25 hours is $695. You are welcome to start with a shorter session and if you find you needed more time, additional hours are greatly reduced, learn more in the FAQ.

The majority of project requests and issues we see on 99designs can be fully resolved with a single half-day or full-day project. Please read our reviews to understand what we can achieve in one session.
In a focused intensive sprint, we implement SEO fixes and/or design improvements. Each client walks away with a vastly improved website and invaluable knowledge for moving forward.
No two meetings are alike. You can dictate the goal of your session or we can prioritize tasks. We will look at all factors of your site. Your site might need routine on-page SEO or it might need a design overhaul. Your site might need updates to structure, copy, indexation, Google accounts (Search Console, Analytics, GBP, etc), or other off-page properties for SEO purposes. We might remove content or create new needed pages. The scope, reach, and outcome of every session is different because each client is at a different starting point—sites can vary in terms of history, size, quality, audience, location, purpose, competitors, and goals.
Should you choose half-day or full-day? The best fit largely depends on the complexity of your site, your goals, and your budget. See our client feedback below to get a sense of our effectiveness and speed. See the FAQ for more information on choosing a session length.
Most sites only need one session, but if needed, followup work or long-term projects are offered at a decreased fee structure and can be any length or scope. We are happy to help with more extensive design updates, continued keyword research, competitor analysis, content development, or on-going content strategy work.
A half-day is $1150. A full-day is $2200. We kickoff with a Zoom, but you do not have to stay on Zoom for the entire appointment.

Our collaborative quick builds for small new sites include SEO, pointing the domain, important training, setting up Google Analytics and Search Console, submitting the sitemap, and more.
Note, the fee can be much less if you only need a structural build or a simple landing page. Larger sites, custom business functionality, integrations, copywriting, or branding can increase the fee. We don’t sell “website packages with add-ons,” we look at the scope of the work needed and quote you a flat-fee. Our websites are built for performance.

✨ If you have a very limited budget for launching a website, consider building a DIY site, then booking a shorter session above—you get design updates and basic SEO training as we work.
Migrating/moving/transferring to Squarespace, or extensively redesigning a site all require technical expertise and analysis to prevent loss of SEO and to improve positioning. That said, some sites are so small that they can be rebuilt for much less (see New Websites above). Larger sites or legacy sites can cost much more.
Schedule a quick call for a quote.
Note, if someone else migrated or redesigned your site and you need help with traffic recovery, or if you would like migration assistance with a DIY site move, please see the shorter sessions above.
We can help with course creation, setup, design, testing, QA, feedback, etc.
Depending on the type of help you need, one of the self-scheduled sessions listed above is likely a good fit. If you need more extensive help, please schedule a quick call for a quote.
Moving from 7.0 to 7.1 can be as varied as a short Zoom where we help you with the initial transfer or a complete redesign on our end. For quick targeted help, see the self-scheduled sessions above. For a larger redesign, book a call below to get a quote.
Note, there are some instances (certain functionality, template layout, etc.) where staying on 7.0 is advantageous. New designers, who are only familiar with 7.1, are not aware of these unique cases. And there is no “SEO gain” in simply moving to 7.1. If your site is struggling on 7.0, it will also struggle on 7.1, unless the underlying issues are addressed.
All 99designs projects include 10-day email support. See 99designs client feedback and FAQs below.
Self-schedule a Zoom (1.5 hours to full-day session) and we’ll upload your invoice to 99designs.

No provider should guarantee SEO results, but whether you work with us for 2 hours, 2 days, or 2 weeks, our goal is always increased positioning and better conversions for every client.
Experienced. Collaborada was established in 2013 by a former technology consultant and systems analyst. We introduced the 1:1 educational training model that is now used by many Squarespace providers. Learn more about us.
Value. We bring deep knowledge, expertise, and an independent perspective to every project. And we help you with rapid execution to maximize your ROI.
Integrity. Clients appreciate our forthright and honest approach. We’ll always give you our genuine perspective, even when it’s not what you want to hear.
ROI. Our results for clients speak for themselves and are unmatched on the Marketplace. See 99designs reviews.
Education. Your online presence is more involved than “choosing package A or B” or “inserting keywords.” As a small business owner, you need a basic understanding of SEO to inform future marketing decisions.
True Experts. Squarespace Customer Care has referred numerous clients directly to us. Our 1:1 training approach served as the model for the Squarespace Authorized Trainer program (replaced with the Marketplace). And we were an original member of the Squarespace pro community Circle.
Need SEO?
Need SEO?
Collaborada takes pride in the integrity and quality of our services as a provider on the Squarespace Marketplace. It’s important to know that Squarespace does not vet SEO skills of providers listed in the marketplace, which can create an unpredictable environment for clients seeking reliable SEO expertise.
You must look past superficial marketing. Not every “expert” is actually an expert. Knowledge is power.
Check the SEO’s traffic: Use a free traffic checker to see if a marketer gets a decent amount of visitors.
Confirm the CMS: Check which CMS they use for their own website. If they don’t use Squarespace themselves, ask how familiar they are with its specific settings.
Search for the provider’s profile name or brand name. If a provider’s website isn’t at the top of search results or is hard to find, this is a red flag. If they don’t have a website, red flag.
Next, look at the quality of their website traffic by putting their website URL (i.e. example.com) into a free traffic checker. Why? Many profiles offering SEO Services, don’t actually understand SEO. Anyone offering SEO, SEO content, SEO copywriting, or sites “built with SEO in mind,” etc., should have a site that displays a fundamental level of SEO skill. If not, this is a red flag.
Additionally, if a site has a single page that is responsible for a large percentage of the traffic, this is risky and unstable.
Evaluate a provider’s track record of demonstrable ROI by analyzing client feedback and case studies. Look for in-depth results from reputable, established businesses.
Services vary in quality, depth, and approach. We offer a tailored 1:1 audit with implementation versus a generic checklist approach.
It’s important to be aware that many low-cost SEO providers also handle ad management—their strategy is to on-board you, then convince you the best option is high-cost, long-term ad campaigns.
If a provider does not meet with you, in our experience they usually are not doing effective work.
If a provider offers a “package” approach, you often are paying for items that (1) are already implemented on your site, and/or (2) do not pertain to your particular needs, and/or (3) are simple tasks that can be accomplished quickly during a consultation.
If “backlinks” are offered as a paid solution OR a reason for why you aren’t ranking, this is a red flag.
Prioritize experience, trust your instincts, and ask for references or work samples.
What if you have a very low budget? If your business can’t yet afford a quality hire, we truly recommend you save your money and learn SEO basics on your own. Most freelancers or junior staff at agencies offering A-B-C packages (with “bonuses and freebies!” and “certifications”) know little more than the basics you could learn in a few days of study.
In this unregulated space, it is unfortunate but true that providers often do not fulfill their promises, leading to increased costs if you have to hire twice. Our team often steps in to provide effective solutions after clients have experienced unsatisfactory results elsewhere.
If you find yourself lacking the time or inclination to learn the basics on your own or have encountered challenges along the way, our 1.5-hour Zoom is truly the most value-packed, high-impact consultation available.
“As a small business owner, I cannot stress how important it was for me to have a knowledgeable, transparent SEO expert walk me through an entire day of work that is crucial for the success of my business. I will definitely be working with Christine in the future. I cannot recommend her enough. The most effective use of a day in years.”
“Excellent job. Works quickly. Christine undertook a complex project and dealt with it in an organized and creative way. Much appreciated. Highly recommend.”
“Christine Darby of Collaborada gained me SEO results that exceeded my expectations. My website was ranking on page three of a Google search and now it is right at the top of page one. Christine modestly underestimates the predicted outcomes of her SEO work. Her work is comprehensive, clearly explained, and ongoing. Equally valuable are Christine's magnificent instincts for improving the aesthetics of your website, as well as its clarity and accessibility to your end users. In short, she provides much more than simple SEO. All I can say is, Wow! Christine's expertise has absolutely been the best investment I have made in my website. Thank you, Christine and Collaborada!”
“Excellent to work with. Thorough, engaged for the entire meeting, and extremely knowledgeable in her area of expertise. I’ve already planned a second session!”
“Christine is a great collaborator. She knows how to ask the right questions to find out what I think I need, and balances those insights with her own expertise in what makes for a strong website. At times she listens and follows; other times she leads. In both cases, she helps her client get to the right place. Together, we've solved issues and created features I didn't even know were needed. I'm really happy with my site. I'll work with her again.”
“Christine is an unbelievable talent! She helped me with my immediate issues and all of the issues I didn't even know I had. Christine is a fabulous communicator as well as educator. A true gem! There is nothing she could have done better.”
“Christine did an amazing job, helping me understand SEO and asked mindblowing questions that helped me push my business forward to the next level.”
“I highly recommend Christine!!! She built three websites for our company and we were extremely pleased with the outcome. I initially chose her because she is very personable and she is very easy to communicate with (from being reachable and responding to questions, etc). And ultimately I felt understood by her. She caught the vision of what we needed without making me fill out a long questionnaire (which other designers did and I still didn't feel they quite understood our needs). She is very knowledgeable in design + flow, building Squarespace from the ground up, redirecting domains, search engine optimization, among many other things. I also felt she was very creative and trusted her thought process and direction.”
“Again an amazing experience with Christine. She's so into details without getting lost in them and has helped me so much with my website and getting it in a perfect fit. Thanks a lot!”
“Christine from Collaborada does not waste a minute during her session with you, and is very reasonably priced. She works fast and has a great deal of knowledge about local SEO. She improved my website almost instantaneously, but also gave me some useful homework assignments to continue improving on my own time. She even went beyond the scheduled session to make some extra improvements. I can't recommend her services highly enough.”
“Christine has great ideas! Her honest feedback and straightforward approach was exactly what I looked for. She knows what is important and why. I had a fantastic experience and will definitely work with her again.”
“My experience with Collaborada was great. Christine walked me through my entire site and pointed out opportunities for growth. She even followed up with me after the 2-hour audit with some additional tips to improve my site. Highly recommend.”
“Christine was amazing, everything was explained in an easy to understand way. I'm very thankful of her expertise."“
“Amazing! I worked with her on designing and launching a brand new website. She is someone you instantly build rapport with. The process could not have been easier and the results were impressive. She is extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and a great teacher. I highly recommend her and plan on working with her again in the near future.”
“Christine was very hands-on and took my ideas to the next level.”
“Christine is AMAZING! She was able to walk me through the whole prosses of SEO for my website. I now feel confident with my website’s SEO thanks to her one-on-one approach. She truly is the real deal and has been around for a long time.”
“Christine was hugely helpful! We really appreciate her approach of showing us how to improve our SEO and teaching us the reasons why. We look forward to meeting with her again!”
“Christine has great ideas! Her honest feedback and straightforward approach was exactly what I looked for. She knows what is important and why. I had a fantastic experience and will definitely work with her again.”
“Very professional, highly knowledgeable, a person who knows every small detail about how a website should look, very easy to work with, friendly and very respectful towards a project needs. I will work with her again in the future and will suggest to my friends.”
“Christine is superb to work with. She provides excellent information, gives insightful and relevant feedback, and is more than open to collaborative efforts. I would absolutely work with her again, and will!”
“Outstanding designer, collaborator, and educator in composing the proper design and message for my site and business.”
“Incredibly detailed, thoughtful, and efficient. Her seemingly minor tweaks were actually major game changers for my website’s google search position.”
Pick a date on the calendar and watch for the invoice in 99designs.
The best fit depends on a combination of your needs, your goals, and your budget. Longer sessions allow for more in-depth site design and setup, UX, blog strategy, keyword research, competitor analysis, training, or more complex issues. Many “SEO” projects also need a fair amount of design work.
All sessions include implementation of recommendations while we work.
The first 8 hours of any 99designs projects results in the same total fee, regardless of how scheduled. You are welcome to start with a shorter session, then determine if you need more time.
The 1.5-hour Zoom is good for tackling a pressing design issue or SEO question as it relates to your site. It is also a good starting point if you have a very limited budget, or need a professional second opinion, or just want to get acquainted with our approach. The 2.25-hour Zoom is a sweet spot for many small projects. A half-day project allows us to delve deeper into SEO strategy or design needs. And a full-day project offers a more comprehensive option to address your online presence.
Some clients simply want “how to get started” advice, while some prefer a full-service do-it-for-me approach. We are happy to train your team or do the work for you. Every initial engagement begins with a Zoom call.
Some general guidelines:
If your existing site only has a few pages, the 1.5-hour Zoom is likely a good fit.
If you just launched a new local business, the 2.25-hour session is a good fit, but if budget is constrained we can work quickly through local SEO setup in a 1.5-hour session.
If you suspect your site needs quite a bit of updating, you might start with a half-day session.
If your local business has been around for a number of years, a half-day session is a good place to start.
If your organization has a full-time team of 3 or more, then a full-day session is often appropriate.
If your site relies on blog traffic to attract a national audience, book a full-day. Large blog overhauls are often multi-day projects. If you know you want more time, just let us know.
If you are a web designer seeking SEO training, schedule a 2.25 hour session or a half-day session.
If you are a web designer struggling with an isolated issue on a client site, book the 1.5 hour option.
If you aren’t sure if a half- or full-day is best, start with a half-day.
In general, the more time we spend together, the more value you get. That said, not every request requires “more time.” Longer sessions allow for a deeper dive into your unique needs and goals. However, the decision should ultimately align with your specific requirements and budget. The more resources you put into SEO, the greater ROI you'll see in the long run.
If you need a new website, migration, or massive content overhaul, book a quick call for a custom quote.
We have a minimum requirement for all first-time Marketplace projects. After we’ve worked together as outlined above, followup projects can be any scope or length.
Why a minimum? An overwhelming majority of sites requesting help via the 99designs platform have numerous issues with structure, content, keywords, user experience, off-page factors and more (this is why we suggest starting with a half-day or full-day). Anyone willing to “adjust some spacing” when much larger issues are present is not actually helping you.
If your website is structurally sound, easy to navigate, and converting customers then someone on your team already knows how to make quick design changes. That said, if your business lost a designer or key staff member, then yes your site might only need “one quick update,” but you also need to establish a relationship with a trusted partner.
It depends. This varies business by business.
Website builds. Our new sites and migrations are designed for performance at launch. You should not need us again unless you want help with on-going content strategy.
Design and SEO projects. Most small DIY sites, new sites, or local sites can be setup for success during our first meeting. If a larger site has more to do and you aren’t comfortable working on remaining tasks, we offer a decreased fee structure based on the amount of time you need.
Content Strategy. Sites looking to attract national traffic may want additional or on-going help. We are happy to train you or your team on how to blog properly and guide you in the beginning stages. And we can help you learn how to use ChatGPT effectively.
Annually. Every site benefits from an occasional check-in. Feel free to book with us on an as-needed basis. Consider a quick annual review even for the smallest of sites.
It depends. Your site should already rank for brand searches—if not, we can fix that. And ideally you have an expanded result showing your Home page with multiple site links listed below—if not, we can fix that too.
Beyond that, a site’s timeline for ranking general keywords depends on many factors including type of business, website history, location, audience, keyword difficulty, competitors, content strategy, and much more. Some sites are very quick and some take time.
If you want to organically reach a national audience, you need high-quality, unique content. If you don’t have the time or budget for content creation, we can discuss other strategies to reach your audience (ads, social media, collaborations, etc). That said, our primary focus is always competitive SEO because small businesses that do not know how to generate free organic search traffic will be dependent on ads or marketplace-type platforms.
We can give you an estimated timeline for your situation during your session.
Yes.
Probably not.
No. Small businesses do not need SEO software or plugins. During your session, we can discuss free and low-cost tools you can use to check your site on an as-needed basis.
For example, Ahrefs provides a free simple broken link checker.
Feel free to schedule a call for a quote, but here’s 3 options:
You can start with a full-day session during which we’ll make needed foundational updates and assess the amount of additional work required—if any.
Alternatively, if you know you want to book multiple dates spread over several weeks or months for extended collaboration, selecting your preferred dates in advance and paying upfront is more cost-effective, much like a retainer. That said, clients are welcome to pay for individual sessions on an as-needed basis without a long-term commitment.
And we offer substantial savings for booking blocks of consecutive days.
Yes, if they introduced us, then we must use the platform for invoicing.
If you are a new client, then you or a team member with decision-making authority will need to join an initial Zoom. This meeting is the most efficient way for us to learn important information about your business and online presence. We can make it quick.
If needed, we’ll followup with an email outlining updates made to your site and/or further recommendations.
Joining Zoom on camera is your choice. We rarely have our camera on. And we usually jump right into screen sharing mode and get to work.
We work with businesses worldwide. We start most business calls weekdays between 9am and 3pm CT. When needed, we can start international calls weekdays between 8am to 6pm CT.
A time zone converter can be helpful for finding a mutually convenient time. Reach out if you need a time not displayed on our booking calendar.
Or message in the 99designs portal for a quick reply.
